The Administrative Council was formed in 1915 to provide faculty representation in reponse to the Academic Freedom Controversy. The Council had authority over matters pertaining to educational policy and administration, subject to approval of the Board of Regents. The Administrative Council became the Faculty Council in 1947. The University Senate was created in 1970 as a successor to the Faculty Council. The name was changed again to the present Academic Senate in April 1987. While regulations ...
